Enclosure – Android Game
Welcome to our new Android game review on Playandroid. Today we take a look at “Enclosure” a game from the developer “Boa/Neo”. What is “Enclosure”? It is a tower-defense game in space. I know, at first this sounds simple to you, but the developer did a lot to make this game feel unique. If you like tower-defense games and space games then “Enclosure” could be the right game for you.
Build up your wall and choose your weapon. That is the main thing you will do in this game. Your goal is to prevent the Aliens from escaping through any of the wormholes. Sounds weird but it is true. For this, you can build up walls and heavy weapons for protection. But is that enough for a GREAT tower-defense game? Read our review for more information.
Graphics: Back to the Basics?
Where are all the textures gone? That was the first thing I thought while playing “Enclosure”.On the one side the graphics are pretty simple and boring but on the other side they fit well into the future space setting of “Enclosure”. What you see is what you get. This sentence explains perfectly how the game looks. All graphics are cut down to the basics. You can only see the outlines of the spaceships and you need your imagination to put the rest onto it. The background is black like space and does not need any more explanation. Overal the game looks pretty good. It is not a flashy one, but for a tower-defense game that is settled down in space, I think it is ok.
Graphics: 3/5
Sounds: Epic
The sound in “Enclosure” is far better then the graphics. An epic orchestral theme spreads over the whole game and brings a lot of atmosphere into it. It is amazing how the developer catches the space feeling. In the game, you will get two different songs, one is for the building phase and one for the fighting phase. With the music the developer did everything right, but what about the sound effects? It is the same here. Everything from the shooting sounds up to the building sounds are perfectly produced and fit excellent into the space setting. For the sound in “Enclosure” I can only give the highest rating.
Sounds: 5/5
Controls: A little tricky
You can control the whole game with just two fingers. At first this sounds easy and self-explanatory. Sadly it is not so easy. The building phase is important in “Enclosure” and I encounterd some annoying problems there. To build up your walls or towers, you need to press on one of the squares on the ground. Sounds easy but the problem is the camera angle. Often you will click at the wrong square because the camera is not in the right position. You have to press a little bit under or over to build up all sort of things. The problem is the fancy 3D graphic. From it perspectiv it is not easy to press at the right point. Why not a a bird’s eye perspective for the building-phase? I think this would solve the whole control problem. Why is it not possible to zoom in and out? A lot of question and I hope the developer will give us some answers with further updates . Do not get me wrong, the controls are not so bad, but I think they could be much better.
Controls: 3/5
You have upgrades, different weapons, various enemies and a lot of wormholes. That is what you get in “Enclosure”. The main thing is to protect the wormholes and for this you need weapons. It is that easy! The developer has put three different weapons into the game. You can choose between these three in the building phase. Start with the mini-gun and when you have enough money you can buy a Lazer or a Battery. It is in your hand which weapon your prefer. Choose wisely, because you need the right weapon for every situation. Like in every tower defense game, you can upgrade your weapons to make them stronger. I think three towers and some upgrades are not enough for a game like this. But I am sure that further game updates will bring more variation and action into the game.
Scope: 3/5
Atmosphere: Space Invaders with a Boom
It just feels good when you play “Enclosure”. The atmosphere in “Enclosure” lives of the music. The music holds everything together and gives the whole game a unique feeling. So turn up the volume and enjoy it. The only thing that bothers me is the background. Only some blue stars and black? I think the background needs some planets, the milky way or just some colors. Dear Developer: Just look at the old photos from the “Hubble Telescope” for some inspiration^^. Again, the game just need updates.
Atmosphere: 4/5
Fun Factor: For the Fans
If you like tower-defense games, than “Enclosure” is the right game for you. If you are not interested in building and planning, then better avoid this game. This is not a fast paced action game. You need patience, brain skills and a good strategy to beat the levels not your reflexes. I had my fun while playing “Enclosure” because I am a big tower-Defense fan and play a lot of them. And here comes the problem. As a fan of tower defense games I just need more. More levels, more backgrounds, more enemies and more towers. Still I had a good time with this game but for tower a tower defense game there is a principle. More content more fun!
Fun Factor: 3/5
Conclusion:
On the first look “Enclosure” gives you everything you want from a tower defense game. Sadly, there are some game design problems. I like the overall idea of “Enclosure” but what we need here are updates. I think with some new weapons and levels the game will be much better.
